Dr. Stephen E. Bash, MD
Pediatric Cardiologist
Learning to ‘never give up’ as a Scout gave Dr. Bash the fortitude to not only become a Pediatric Cardiologist, but also to help open the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Helping parents and children, he still uses the values he learned, such as courtesy, kindness and trustworthiness. He attributes his self-sufficient and disciplined nature to his days as a Scout.
Dr. Bash also exemplifies the relationship between his life in Scouting and his life now as a pediatric cardiologist, Vigil Scout, and grandfather of two Scouts. When Dr. Bash was medical director of Camp Ingersoll for five years, he performed a service for Scouts as a gesture of gratitude for the foundation Scouting instilled in him.
